A Life of Public Service
Prior to serving on the Sterling Heights City Council, Henry served as the State Representative for Michigan’s House District 25 representing the cities of Sterling Heights and Warren. As State Representative Henry was a member of many committees and sub-committees including Appropriations, Health and Human Services, Military and Veterans Affairs, Community Colleges, and more.
As an elected official Henry actively engaged the citizens of his community holding three citizen meeting per month along with multiple Town Halls. Henry also spent his Summers walkeding neighborhoods going door to door to listen to the concerns of his constituents.
As both an elected official and a concerned citizen Henry worked on keeping his city clean hosting and participating in many environmental cleanups removing trash from waterways and roadways. Along with the environment, Henry worked to support communities in need especially vulnerable children, seniors, veterans and the mental health community and their caregivers.
Henry’s work as a State Legislator was recognized with three Legislator of the Year awards and multiple certificates of appreciation.
Prior to becoming an elected official, Henry was a firefighter and paramedic for the city of Sterling Heights retiring as a Lieutenant. He started his career as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Troy, Michigan.
Henry grew up in the working class city of Madison Heights, Michigan. He is the son of an auto worker and a homemaker. Henry currently lives in Sterling Heights, MIchigan with his wife Jane. Together they have four adult children and four adorable grandchildren.
